I hope this finds you well & you're keeping up with the 2010
pace!
The explosion, in website technology, social
networking (Facebook / LinkedIn) and the device
spaces (iPad / iPhone apps and Google Android) have forced
significant changes in digital sales and marketing trends. This fits well
with AndMine's Project Scope making significant differences to our
clients sales and marketing outcomes; some of our recent work is listed
below, more
online.
There are three objectives our clients are focusing on;
1. How to to use online
tools for more sophisticated measurement of results
- by developing KPIs beyond Google Analytics.
2. How to leverage this new found traffic to create membership & loyalty
and thereafter to guide this into sales results.
3. How to use social media and
devices to dazzle/attract new audiences. These media spaces are
growing so quickly they shall dominate the web, digital and even traditional
marketing.
My top current tips are listed below; by adding to the industry ourselves and
reviewing hundreds of articles a week we find plenty of new opportunities for

Online Advertising
If you're advertising online, your message and image should communicate
exactly what you are offering. Especially on targeted platforms like
Facebook and AdWords. Don't pay for clicks that won't convert to real
opportunities. Be very specific and ensure what you are linking to (eg. your
website) offers precisely what you have promised.
The World's Biggest Search Engine
Are you on the world's biggest search engine? It is not Google. A great
website and SEO is a must. However maximise your traffic results by posting
content correctly on YouTube and other media platforms. There are now more
searches everyday on YouTube than there are on Google. We believe this shift
will continue as more and more platforms (like Facebook) become internet
users first point of call.
Facebook's Like Button
Facebook officially unveiled its new Open Graph API and tools a few weeks
ago, making it possible for developers and end users to easily hook their own
sites into Facebook's broader ecosystem. The "Like" button is
now an essential tool for business, brands and products online. 50,000
websites connected in the first week... with social media company
Vitrue releasing a study saying Facebook Fans are valued at $3.60
each per annum... with over 400 Million Facebook users, start getting
"liked" ASAP.
Short is Sweet, Promotional Offers that Stick
Running a promotional offer? Pack more punch with a short time offer your
customers can't refuse. This will grow brand awareness and build loyal
customer habits. If you're using an email marketing tool to send out to
your database - make sure it delivers to 100% of your membership base and
reports on every one of those email addresses. Don't forget opt-out for
all Australian bulk electronic communications is now mandatory.
Mobile GPS, Geo-Location and Augmented
Reality Haven't heard of foursquare? At nearly 1
million checkin's per day it is the envy of all geo-location
applications. It's the start of how users on the go will connect with
services, business, people and more to come. Own or frequent restaurants?
UrbanSpoon's Rezbook allows you to reserve a table at connected
venues! Even Trapster has made the news as Police are frustrated
about users avoiding speeding cameras and booze buses. Look out for other
great apps that release their own API as smart companies are capitalising on
the massive traffic interest from mobile "check-in" based offers.
iPad, iPhone... Android - 2 years until web
dominance.
Apple's much hyped iPad has launched internationally. The iPhone is
already dominant and on-going development in mobile devices (eg. Google's
Android platform) promises to deliver a new wave of users and expectations.
In under 2 years, mobile devices will overtake PCs as the most common web
access device worldwide. This will completely change the landscape of web
builds and online traffic.
