One of our most passionate projects here at &Mine is the website design for Victorian Government’s Family Violence Response Plan. At times confronting, and highly emotional for all involved, the purpose of this project is to prevent and respond to family violence and be a point of call to individuals and communities affected by it. We worked closely with the Victorian Government to transform their online presence to improve information channels for victims and survivors of family violence, as well as raising awareness of the support services and resources available.
The overarching message of Vic Gov’s family violence website is the Ten Year Plan to change the current situation of family violence in Victoria. This includes an action plan, list of resources, a newsletter and link to the latest news and services. Another important aspect of our work with VIC Gov is the inclusion of Stories of Change, which are real life accounts from survivors. A goal of our work on the website was to aid the sharing and engagement by a wider audience.
Our approach to this project involved a range of firsts for VIC Gov, including re-designing their informational architecture, user journeys, prototyping, user testing of high-fidelity wireframes, redevelopment of the navigational hierarchy and building new modules which showcased the complexity and real-time changes happening in the community.
This project also used a wide range of &Mine’s services, commencing with a Google Design Sprint to optimise our strategic approach for users and stakeholders, all the way through to improving the design of the user interface and developing the website and engagement with social media.
We’ve worked closely with VIC Gov to help grow awareness, which is cited as a key to change the way the community views and deals with family violence. We have made reading, sharing and discussing the problem of family violence much more accessible with a multi-platform approach.
