The Client: Medibank
Brief: Medibank (through A-Live) wanted two iPad apps to use through the course of the Australian Open – one competition application which would integrate with a website to animate entries, and another information app. Due to time constraints and the iOS app store approval process, AndMine advised to develop web applications to ensure the project was up before the first visitor was served!
Solution: Time constraints are a considerable issue in any application development and given this we couldn’t construct an app the usual way – this is where AndMine’s Digital Strategy and Production Team worked together with A-Live to construct a webpage which replicated the functions of an iPad application exactly. The solution enabled us to make a website which looked, behaved and was programmed like an app, although didn’t have to go through the long approval that many applications are subject to. Once the app was selected on the tablet, other iPad functions were locked out which meant that users couldn’t access outside websites or apps.
Results:
– The app developed was virtually indistinguishable from an app coming through the app store
– Over 1800 entries were recording during the 2 week event
